Utilize a variety of molecular and cellular biology techniques to support the identification of novel drug targets and validation of target expression for GI disease indications.


  • With supervision, learns how to select genes of interest from gene expression datasets for further validation work.
  • With guidance and supervisor, helps to validate the expression of selected genes in GI tissues and cells using molecular and cellular biology techniques, including mouse tissue collection, RNA isolation, quantitative RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, and RNAscope.
  • Analyzes and interprets data, and presents results in an organized manner.
  • Communicates with colleagues effectively and work well with others to meet experimental goals.


  • Two to three years of undergraduate training with a biological science background and some previous experience working in a lab environment.
  • Familiarity with basic lab skills such as pipetting, use of centrifuge, and lab safety.
  • Basic understanding of principles of molecular and cellular biology.
  • Eager to learn. Willingness to work in a team-oriented, dynamic and changing environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


  • Manual dexterity required to operate office equipment (i.e., computers, phones, etc.).
  • Carrying, handling and reaching for objects up to 25 lbs
  • Able to work in a lab environment
  • Exposure to hazardous and toxic chemicals
  • Potential exposure to rodent allergens
